A gentle cleaning does more than polish a smile. It removes buildup, helps us spot changes early, and gives your child repeated proof that a dental visit can feel calm and manageable.

Fluoride strengthens tooth enamel and helps a growing smile resist cavities. A professional treatment is quick, simple, and tailored to a child’s individual risk.
A clear plan, at your child’s pace
Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral that helps enamel become more resistant to acid exposure. Professional fluoride treatments are more concentrated than everyday toothpaste or drinking water and may be recommended as part of a child’s preventive visit.
How often fluoride is recommended depends on cavity risk, diet, home care, fluoride exposure, and the child’s oral health history. Dr. Malek will explain why a treatment is or is not appropriate.
How this care can help
Before, during, and after
We consider your child’s oral health, cavity history, and daily fluoride exposure.
Fluoride may be applied as a varnish, gel, foam, or another age-appropriate format.
The team will tell you when your child can eat or drink and any instructions for the rest of the day.
Home guidance
Professional treatment works best alongside brushing twice a day with an age-appropriate amount of fluoride toothpaste. Ask us how much toothpaste to use for your child’s age and ability to spit.

Explore Dental CleaningsBack teeth have deep grooves that can trap food and bacteria even when a child brushes carefully. Sealants create a smooth protective barrier over those chewing surfaces.

Every recommendation starts with the whole child — their health, comfort, development, and family — not just the tooth in front of us.

Helpful answers
When used as directed, fluoride is a widely used part of preventive dental care. The appropriate amount and frequency are based on a child’s age and cavity risk.
Many children receive fluoride at regular preventive visits, while children with higher cavity risk may benefit from a different schedule. Dr. Malek will make an individual recommendation.
The team will provide specific guidance after the treatment. Some fluoride products require a short wait before eating or drinking.
